57 Seconds (2023)
When a tech blogger secures an interview with a tech guru and thwarts an attack on him, he discovers a mysterious ring that transports him 57 seconds back into the past.
While the concept is intriguing, it's unfortunate that the film repeatedly overlooks its own established rules. At one point, the protagonist retreats 57 seconds in a bar scene, and we witness an entirely different sequence of events than the first time, creating a glaring inconsistency.
Moreover, while attempting to woo a woman, the protagonist seems to violate some of the rules previously laid out in the film, disrupting the immersive viewing experience.
The plot has several elements that are hard to comprehend, appearing to be mere devices to push the narrative forward. Regrettably, the movie doesn't provide enough entertainment to distract us from these flaws.
- You are easily triggered by scenes of intense violence or disturbing imagery.
- You prefer light-hearted, feel-good movies as this one is rather dark and twisted.
- You are not comfortable with movies that discuss heavy topics like drug addiction and mental illness.
- You dislike slow-burning thrillers and prefer fast-paced action sequences.
- You are under the age of 18, as this is a movie suited for mature audiences.
Baby Driver (2017)
This Edgar Wright directed film features nail-biting car chase sequences that you’d definitely appreciate if you’re into "57 Seconds." The story revolves around a young getaway driver who uses his own music playlists to become the best in the game. The film receives high praise for its seamless fusion of action, music, and impressive cinematography.
Tenet (2020)Christopher Nolan's "Tenet" is an action-thriller that deals with the concept of time inversion, already intriguing if you love the time-sensitive plot of "57 Seconds". It features intricate narrative structures and mind-blowing visuals typical of Nolan's movies, along with exciting action sequences that keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
Mission: Impossible - Fallout (2018):If you enjoyed the adrenaline-pumping action and intertwining plot of "57 Seconds," you're likely to appreciate "Mission: Impossible - Fallout." Led by Tom Cruise, this film boasts high-stake action sequences and breathtaking stunts, perfectly blending with a plot full of intrigue. Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, it has been hailed as amongst the best entries in the Mission: Impossible franchise.
John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum (2019):"57 Seconds" fans would surely appreciate the grit, relentless action, and relentless pace found in "John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum." It features Keanu Reeves with great commitment to his role as the action hero who must fight his way through numerous obstacles. Directed by Chad Stahelski, this film is a blend of stylish action and gripping storytelling.
Atomic Blonde (2017):For those who admire the action and suspense in "57 Seconds," "Atomic Blonde" would definitely be a good fit. It’s a high-voltage action thriller helmed by David Leitch. Set in Berlin during the Cold War, the film boasts Charlize Theron’s electrifying performance as a British spy with lethal skills.
