Toy Story 4 (2019)
In our earlier review for the original Toy Story, we explored the narrative as an allegory for slavery. Toy Story 4, however, centers on the theme of women's rights, introducing a strong new female character named Bo Peep.
In this recent offering, Bo Peep boldly questions the status quo of toy subjugation. It is only with this catalyst that Woody, the beloved cowboy, finds the courage to cast off his own chains of servitude. This narrative is subtly evocative of the powerful and inspiring women who spearheaded the American emancipation and suffragette movements.
However, Woody's liberation is a solitary one. This could be seen as wholly in line with his character and moral code, which has always been slightly self-focused.
Throughout the film, the scriptwriters consistently allude to Woody's status as an aging toy. Considering he is made of wood, he is essentially an antique in the world of toys. This could easily lead some to question whether there are deeper implications at play here. Are the writers hinting at Woody's retirement or even the inevitability of obsolescence? Or perhaps I'm just overanalyzing? Regardless, it's hard to deny that Toy Story 4 is, at its core, a commentary on women's rights.
- You are under the age of 4. The movie could potentially contain complex themes and scenes that are difficult for very young children to understand.
- You're not a fan of animated films. This film heavily relies on cartoon-like animation.

What's the deal with "Toy Story 4?"I mean, these toys have more emotional baggage than most of us! It's like their version of a mid-life crisis is "I used to be a collector's item, now I'm just a chew toy for the dog!"
Finding Nemo (2003):
Since you enjoy Toy Story 4, you might also appreciate Finding Nemo. This movie is another fantastic production by Pixar Animation Studios. Directed by Andrew Stanton, this under-the-sea adventure follows Marlin, an overly cautious clownfish, who embarks on a dangerous journey to find his missing son, Nemo. As with Toy Story 4, this film blends humor, emotion, and thrilling adventure, making it a perfect choice for your next viewing.
Moana (2016):Moana is an exciting and heartwarming tale about a spirited teenager who sets sail on a daring mission to save her people. The film is another Disney hit, crafted with stunning animation and filled with memorable songs. Much like Toy Story 4, it strikes a balance between humor and poignant moments.
Inside Out (2015):Created by Pixar, Inside Out is an innovative film that takes you on a journey through the human mind. With its touching storyline and creative concept, it deals with themes of growing up and managing emotions, charming both children and adults alike. If you enjoyed the emotional depth and comedic moments in Toy Story 4, Inside Out would likely be a hit for you.
Zootopia (2016):Zootopia is not just about a hilarious and exciting adventure, but it also underpins important social messages. Produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios, Zootopia features a brilliant but unlikely duo – Judy Hopps, a rabbit police officer, and Nick Wilde, a fox con artist. They must work together to uncover a conspiracy. If you loved Keanu Reeves as Duke Caboom in Toy Story 4, you'll love Jason Bateman's equally charming performance as Nick Wilde.
The Incredibles (2004):Another masterpiece from Pixar, The Incredibles is a fun superhero animation blended with lovely family drama. Directed by Brad Bird, the movie is about a family of superheroes who live a quiet suburban life and are forced into action to save the world. Like Toy Story 4, The Incredibles has a blend of humor, action, and heart-touching elements that make it beloved by audiences of all ages.
